ABOUT THE COACHES ::
Varsity Head Coach - Beth Hinz
Beth Hinz grew up in Colorado and attended and played soccer at Colorado State University. She received All-American honors at CSU and traveled with a team of All-Americans from across the country to play soccer in Denmark and Sweden. Upon graduating from CSU, she coached the CSU Women’s soccer team for one season. Her next couple of coaching stints were as a Sophomore and JV coach at Aurora High School and Cherry Creek High School. Her first varsity coaching job was at Thomas Jefferson High School followed by Sophomore and JV assignments at East High School before accepting the varsity coaching job at East for the boys in 2001. A few years later she was also offered the girls’ varsity job at East and has been coaching both teams since. Beth has won two state championships at East with the boys' soccer teams. Additionally, she has two coaching licenses from the NSCAA, the National Diploma and the Advanced National Diploma. She is also a teacher at East High School, teaching social studies for the last 14 years.
Varsity Assistant Coach - Katie Amsberry
Katie Amsberry has won a state championship with both high school and club soccer as a player. She played college soccer at the University of Wyoming. Her college soccer team participated in a European tour and played in Holland and England. She has coached summer soccer camps at the University of Wyoming and the University of Colorado. Katie is a school counselor at Emily Griffith High School. This is Katie's second year as an assistant coach and is thrilled to be a part of East Soccer.
JV1 Head Coach-Jenny Wetzig
This will be Jenny Wetzig’s second year working with the East Women’s Soccer program. She coached last year at a charter school in Denver and played collegiate soccer at St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN. Jenny teaches Spanish at East and is excited to work with the freshman and sophomores this season!
JV2 Head Coach -
Freshman Coach - Henry Szuster
Henry Szuster currently teaches Computer Business Applications, Exploring Computing Science & Web Design at East High. He grew up in Johnstone, Scotland and has played Association Football (Soccer) for the past 51 years. He has a coaching certification (Youth Development) from the Scottish Football Association and has coached High School Boys both in Scotland and in Tanzania. Since coming to the USA in 2009 he has coached Middle School Boys, Middle School Girls, High School Boys, High School Girls and Adults. Also in 2009 he became a United States Soccer Federation Referee and has refereed both at Youth and Adult levels. Before leaving Scotland he won the Staff Player of the Year at Harlaw Academy in Aberdeen and since arriving in the US he has won a co-ed 6-a-side championship at Bladium Sports. Still an active player he hopes to play well into his sixties (and beyond).
